Skiing, Ice Hockey and Hohenschwangau Castle

Rain settled in on Hopferau today but we cannot complain, as we have really been very lucky with the weather. In the past three days, we have made the most of every moment, while still squeezing in some packing for our long journey home. Only six more sleeps....

On Thursday,Brett Jnr and Eloise enjoyed a wonderful day of skiing at Tegelbergbahn. Sean continues to nurse a sore knee. Brett Jnr also managed to accomplish one of his goals, by skiing down from the red run's peak after a lesson with our ski instructor, Andy. We are very proud of him for his determination, skill and bravery. Huge points to Eloise and Sean, too, who have improved beyond measure.

Yesterday, after Brett Snr and I spent the morning revisiting Oberstdorf, we all excitedly headed off to the local night-time ice-hockey match between Fussen and Selb. The match was a home game and the atmosphere was loud, fun and electric. We had great seats to take in all the furiously paced action. To top the night off, "our team" of Fussen won 5-4! It was such a great night.

Schloss Hohenschwangau

Beautiful Hohenschwangau
Today, rain thwarted most people's plans. We decided to tour King Ludwig's childhood home of Hohenschwangau Castle - a mere ten minute drive from Hopferau. The castle was much smaller than Neuschwanstein but wonderfully elegant and colourful, within a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world. We will always remember the beauty and friendliness of Bavaria.               Tricia
